Thomas was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. By the age of six he was already sketching portraits of his grandparents, family members and anyone else who would sit still for him. Throughout his formative years his mother nurtured his talent by enrolling him into ceramics and glass blowing classes outside of school. While still in high school and because of his abilities, Thomas was selected to participate in a nude drawing course at Otis & Parson Art institute of Los Angeles. In 1989 Thomas moved to Northern California with his wife and continued his studies of the arts at California State University and Cosumnes River College with Renowned Ceramic Artist/Teacher Yoshio Taylor. Over the next 28 years Thomas has continued to pursue his love of painting while working during the day and painting at night. Thomas has had several private showings through the years and has also shown his work at the Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento’s “Art on the River”, Vacaville’s Art & Wine Stroll, Downtown Sacramento’s 2nd Saturday, the opening of the California Museum, and also appeared on “Good Morning Sacramento”. Thomas’ publicly displayed art can be seen at UC Davis Medical in their private collection as well as at Kaiser Permanente as the focus of their Stairwellness project. Thomas has lived in Elk Grove for the last 30 years with his wife. They have two adult children, two small dogs and a cat.
