Mary received her Bachelor Degree from the School of Illustration in 2016 from the Academy of Art University of San Francisco. Writing and illustrating children’s books is her focus, as well as art education.
She has been an artist since grade school as the standout in the class-room. She became a licensed hair stylist at the age of twenty, and has been working that trade to date. Along the way Mary has always pursued her education in art. She fall in love with illustration in 1989 with the help of a painting by N.C. Wyeth, Robin-hood and His Merry Men in Sherwood Forest. With that the romance of illustration, as means of storytelling, captured her imagination.
Energy, vitality of the human experience, nature, and the play of light is her muse as an illustrator and artist. Mary’s ambition is to depict emotion into a dynamic composition that will stir the viewer, even if that is a still life, or a page in a children’s book. Her skills include an expertise in traditional mediums; oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, gouache, charcoal, graphite, pen and ink, and casein.
