Born and raised in Richmond, VA and living in Henrico, VA now. I took my first painting class at the age of 11 from the renowned painter Adele Clark. I went to Ms Clark's house every Saturday for several months and took classes in her dirt floor studio! In Middle School my teacher entered one of my paintings in a national contest without my knowledge and it won. I stated college at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, which was attached to UVA at that time and transferred to RPI ( now VCU) after first semester so I could major in commercial art. I dropped out after my freshman year to get married but soon found myself a single mother of 2 girls whose father was a deadbeat father. Consequently, my next several decades were spent earning a living to support us. After I retired, I went back to school and got my degree in Graphic Design at the age of 79! I have been teaching at Michaels for the past 4 years and other part time teaching jobs as well since they cut back our time. My paintings have hung in several galleries in the Richmond-Petersburg area until 2 years ago when I opened my own studio behind my house.
