Casey's favorite shoes are hiking boots. For years she has explored the wildernesses of the West and Southwest, hiking, backpacking, hang gliding and mountain biking, which has profoundly influenced her work. Casey believes "we are incomplete without a connection to the natural world." Her goal is to bring that relationship into her work, and share it with the viewer. Casey studied drawing, painting, and ceramics at CSUF California, and have been influenced by current artists like Bill Cramer, Joshua Been, and Camille Przewodek. She completed a professional internship with Ken Willingham at his ceramics studio and gallery in June Lake, California. Casey took every available art while completing her degree in Psychology. Worn out after years of treating abused children and perpetrators, she returned to the business world but never stopped creating; whether ceramics, line drawing, painting, jewelry making or other venues. Today she devotes myself exclusively to creating and supporting the Arts. Casey's paintings are deeply informed by my love of the natural world, and she feels fortunate to live in an area which is "astonishingly beautiful, ever-changing, and almost always accessible to outdoor painting". Casey's painting basics are driven by the effects of changing light on the colors of the dramatic Southwestern landscape. Her work is sometimes abstract/impressionistic, sometimes more detailed and realistic, focusing on landscapes, cloud-scapes and wildlife. These pieces showcase her ongoing fascination with the ever-changing Western and Southwestern wildernesses she has traversed for so many years, whether reflected in a patch of park near town or a remote lake only reachable by a long backpack in the Yosemite highlands. Look for works executed showing the Yosemite highlands, the Sonoran desert, and the red rocks of Sedona. She believes that "creation brings me closer to the wilderness and I hope to remain faithful to the joy evoked by my time there".
