RAW VIDEO: Author Dan Brown Says He Finds Hispanic Culture Fascinating

Dan Brown admitted in an interview with Efe that he is "fascinated by the Hispanic culture" and said that he does not rule out delving into it in some of his upcoming books, although he preferred not to provide any advance details about them. "I never speak about what I'm writing, but I'll tell you that I have an enormous fascination with the Hispanic culture on both sides of the Atlantic," Brown said, adding in an enigmatic tone that "we're going to see what happens." Brown, who has sold more than 200 million copies of his books worldwide, will participate on Sunday in the inaugural events for the Miami International Book Fair with an address about his most recent publication - "Inferno" - a work that brings back his famous character, Harvard professor Robert Langdon. The author of "The Da Vinci Code," the novel with the greatest number of sales in history, said in Miami that he has a number of links with the Spanish culture given that in the 1980s he studied Art History at the University of Seville and later taught Spanish to children. "I was there for a couple of years and I absolutely fell in love. I learned a great deal of Spanish," Brown said. The writer said that via his books society can recover the passion for reading, something that has been eroding over time. "It enthuses me when someone comes up and says to me 'You know what? I haven't read a novel since I went to school and I read one of your books and now I'm reading a lot,'" Brown said. The 49-year-old Brown said that the process of writing a novel takes him three years, of which for a year-and-a-half he immerses himself in research and the rest of the time he shuts himself away to devote himself exclusively to writing.
