Warner Brothers' the Lego Movie Breaks Records on Debut Weekend

Call the Academy, tell them there's a late submission! 'The Lego Movie' is a surprise hit after pulling in $69.1 million in its debut weekend, making it the second-biggest February opening after Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of 'The Christ' in 2004. Even better, the movie was financed for under $70 million, a considerable bargain by Hollywood standards. Faring not so well, The Weinstein Company's 'Vampire Academy' hasn't proven nearly as successful since its premiere last week.
