Friday's Funny Feature - Tim Burton's Planet Of The Apes Remake

By Heath McKnight (doddleNEWS)

Two interesting things happened when Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes remake opened summer 2001… First, audiences found the film to be ultimately forgettable (and that’s being nice). Second, this was one of the first films to see a massive opening weekend (in the neighborhood of $65 million), then a huge drop of 60% the next weekend at the box office, which became almost industry-standard. Hence, front-loading a film.

Anyway, aside from that box office trivia, there are several things wrong with Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes remake, and both Screen Junkies and CinemaSins have a pair of videos, Honest Trailers – Planet of the Apes and Everything Wrong With Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes.

Enjoy your weekend, and go see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which our own Danny F. Santos loved!

Hat tip: Screen Junkies and CinemaSins.
