Mark Ruffalo Teases The Avengers: Age of Ultron Details

By Danny F. Santos (doddleNEWS)

Guardians of the Galaxy is just under 2 months away, but Marvel’s biggest team of superheroes is shooting right now. Recently, Mark Ruffalo, who plays the gargantuan Hulk in The Avengers films, had a chance to talk about his roll in the sequel. It can’t be stated enough that no actor has really captured Bruce Banner until Ruffalo’s performance of the character.

Ruffalo spoke with Total Film (via CBM), and?stated that his role in The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be expanded so we should be getting more of Banner and of the Hulk this time around.

[My role's] even bigger than last time, and it's more complex, and it has more layers and a bit more arc... I'm really tripping on the technology of this motion-capture stuff... now I just completely embrace it and see it as this other exciting place we can go as performers.

Makes you wonder, now that his role is being expanded, and that we have two new characters in Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, whose roles are going to be truncated? I hope we get to see more of Hawkeye this time around — he was pretty underused in the first film.

Ruffalo is excited to be back on set, but also finds the pressure for filming the sequel more demanding.

I know the team, I have come to really enjoy these people and know them, and I’m so happy to see them have so much success. And I really love Joss Whedon. I really love working with him. He always gives me something that’s a surprise to me. And so, yeah, it’s been really nice coming back. It’s also nerve-wracking because it did so well and people expect so much. You’re balancing a lot in it, there’s a lot of characters and a lot of story, and you’re trying to figure out your work inside of it.

The Avengers is Marvel Studios’ crown jewel, and it smashed records at the box office, pulling in $1.5 billion. They’re hoping to do that kind of business the second time around. As for what happens in the film, Ruffalo has tweeted a vague response to whether there is a scene in the new movie that will be similar to the “Puny God” scene near the climax of The Avengers.

Let me put it to you this way, there is a Hulk surprise that is equally delightful as when he smashed the bejesus out of Loki.

He’s been pretty active on social media and has had his wrists slapped a few times for tweeting instagramed images from the set.

I’m the green sheep of the Marvel family. But I think they’re starting to catch on – I think all of us are starting to catch on- that you can’t hurt a movie by doing that stuff. You really can’t. It just makes people buy into it more. It makes them part of it, they’re invested in it. It’s not that precious for God’s sake.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1st, 2015.
