Peyton Reed To Direct Ant-Man, Adam McKay To Work On Script

By Heath McKnight (doddleNEWS)

Marvel Studios have finally found a new director for Ant-Man, a couple of weeks after long-time helmer/co-writer Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) left the project, and several directors turned it down. Well, the new guy is Peyton Reed (Down With Love), who at one time was to direct Fantastic Four back in the 2000s, before Tim Story (Barbershop) directed both FF movies for Fox and Marvel.

In addition, Adam McKay (Anchorman), who had to turn down helming Ant-Man, will work on the script, which had a re-write that didn’t please Wright, and according to Ain’t It Cool News, became a bad script.

Marvel Studios have released a press release with the details of Reed taking over Ant-Man, McKay’s involvement, and the plot. The film will still open July 2015.

When Marvel's "Ant-Man" hits theaters July 17, 2015, director Peyton Reed will help shepherd the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cast led by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with writer Adam McKay contributing to the film's script.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

The film retains its cast, including Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, and Patrick Wilson. I wonder if we’ll get a ‘different’ superhero movie, without a true, central bad guy.
