Another fond memory captured in oils. My hikes throught the mountains of Northern New england were punctuated by going through gates in old stone walls that were built 200 years ago. These gates allowed farmers right of way and the sharing of horses and wagons during the hay harvest. Now dairy cattle keep the pastures mowed by grazing. This makes for some easy hiking around the high country.
