Sheree “Mandy” Al’Damen was born in Houston, Texas in 1981. Later she moved to Ingleside, Texas with her father in 1994. Having grown up in South Texas on the Gulf of Mexico her love of the water and the many cultures of people there grew tremendously. Throughout her life, Mandy has always been fascinated by visual and performing arts and how the world is represented through the eyes of others. Naturally, she was drawn to photography. The interest was cultivated during her teenage years and further developed when she opted to take photography courses while pursuing a degree in Art & Design. As well, Sheree has been educated and practices the use of various other mediums; including digital painting, drawing, acrylics, oils, resin art, and jewelry, recycled jewelry art, and mixed media projects.
Mandy loves to share her passion for art and does so by holding private small classes in her neighborhood for local children, and free classes for refugees and women in the local area. Mandy cherishes the connection between art and people and cultures. She focuses much of her work on social equality and social change. She feels that the artistic exchange between the viewer and the artist opens many opportunities. She is currently working on photography projects focusing on the plight of refugees settling in the Houston area.
Mandy currently lives and works in Seabrook, Texas, Southeast of Houston, Texas; along the gulf shore.
