5 Entertaining Things To Do in Utah

Most people have heard of the culture, nightlife and sightseeing big cities like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles have to offer. These cities are known destinations for all things fun, but they don’t have the corner on the market for entertainment. Utah isn’t traditionally a state that attracts much attention, but this often-overlooked state is filled with ways to have a good time. Whether you love to be active or stay indoors, there is something for everyone in the Beehive State. Here are five ways to have fun in the great state of Utah.

Try and Escape

One form of entertainment taking the world by storm in the last decade is the escape room, and Utah is no exception. It seems there is a thrilling escape room in Salt Lake City around every corner. Get together with your family or a group of friends and volunteer to be locked in a room-sized puzzle. You win if you can solve all the riddles before the allotted time runs out. Escape rooms make perfect group date activities or team building sessions for co-workers. Every room has a different theme, so this form of entertainment never grows old.

Get Outdoors

Utah might not be the biggest city with the most nightclubs, but it comes out on top in the outdoor entertainment department. Utah has the unique distinction of being home to five national parks: Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef. It houses a wide range of environments, from the red rocks of southern Utah to the towering peaks and dense forests of the Wasatch Front. The list of activities is almost endless. Get outdoors and enjoy jeeping, white water rafting, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, mountain biking, and kayaking. Get started now and enjoy everything mother nature has to offer in Utah.

Play in the Snow

One outdoor activity available in this great state deserves its own category altogether. It is said that Utah has “the greatest snow on earth”, and for good reason. The powder in the high mountains is second to none. There are ski slopes and resorts around every bend and for all skill levels. Some are close enough to get to after a long day’s work. If snowboarding and skiing aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other ways to play in the snow. Ice fishing at Bear Lake, the Midway Ice Castles and dogsledding in Park City are all fun and unique ways to spend time outdoors in the winter. Come see for yourself and decide if the white stuff lives up to its nickname.

Visit a Theme Park

Utah has more kids per family than any other state in the Union, and it does its best to create a family friendly environment. One activity that is a sure-fire win for entertaining kids of all ages is the theme park, and Utah has a whole lot of them. The most well-known park, Lagoon, sits just north of Salt Lake City in Davis County. The thrill rides and stomach-tossing coasters far outshine the sleepy little town they sit in. Lagoon is a theme park that can rival many of the bigger, well-known parks in California or Florida, at half the cost. Don’t stop there though. Entertain your family at Cherry Hill, Seven Peaks, Cowabunga Water Park or Boondocks, among others. Consider crowdfunding next time you need to raise money.

Explore a Museum

If culture and history are more your speed, you’re in luck. There are museums for every taste and interest. Peer up at a towering T-Rex in the Natural History Museum, learn about the history of the Airforce at the free Hill Air Force Base Museum, contemplate the cosmos at the Clark Planetarium or explore local history at some of the museums for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

There is never a good reason to be bored in Utah. Whatever your interest or ability level, get out and explore all the entertainment available in this hidden gem.
