Understanding What Types of Artwork Will Sell to Customers

If you are trying to sell artwork to customers and effectively close a sale, it can be tricky when trying to understand what will sell the most. Here are a few ideas that can help you understand what appeals to customers so you can make it easier to sell them something they will enjoy and be happy with for many years to come.

Artwork That Invokes a Place They Enjoy

Think about the types of places most people like and what they would want to see in their homes. One good example of artwork that always looks appealing is a scenery that invokes places such as the ocean, a forest, or someplace else that is calming and appealing. Many people like to come home, relax and look at the art, envisioning they are in this place. Ocean artwork can also be popular for offices or other places where people feel stressed out and need to feel some sense of calm in their lives. Although some folks might have a very specific request, it doesn't need to be anything fancy for most. A calming and appealing place is often enough for them.

Realistic Artwork That Transports Them Elsewhere

Some types of artwork, especially 3D artwork, can make people feel as though they are someplace else altogether. If your customer mentions they want to feel they are in an entirely different place, search for 3D artwork or something similar that can take them to a whole new area. It could feature animals, nature, a scene, or something else. Find out what the customer is looking for and how big they want the artwork to be. This can give you an indication of what would help you make your sale.

Artwork of Animals or Famous Places

Some people might have a favorite animal they would like to see on the wall or perhaps a particularly famous place that would bring them joy, such as the heads on Easter Island or the Effiel Tower in Paris.  Find out what your customers are looking for, and help them find the right artwork to decorate with. Animals and famous places are popular topics no matter what a person's age or background. They can look appealing at home, the office, or in just about any other spot. Get an idea of what would be appealing based on the room they are decorating for, or what they envision seeing when they walk into a specific room. Once you know the type of animal or place they like, this can open up the door for other types of art you think they would like to buy.

Artwork That is Already Framed

Artwork that is already framed can be easier to sell. Many customers do not want to frame their own art, since this can involve hunting for the right frame or finding something that matches well with their room. The more the customer has to think about what type of artwork they are trying to frame, the more daunting the process can be, leading them to put it off or not buy artwork at all. Framed artwork often costs more, and thus is easier to make a bigger sale on.

Why Presenting Artwork Well is Important for a Sale

When presenting artwork, it is important to take into account the customer's tastes, what they would like, what type of room they are trying to decorate, and if the artwork should be framed or not. Using an approach that is Customer Centric can make it easier to help complete the sale and ensure that the customer feels satisfied, and will come back to shop with you in the future when it comes to fulfilling their needs.

When trying to sell artwork to customers, think about what they would like and what type of artwork they have in mind for their home or office. Find out if they want framed artwork, and make sure they have a good sales experience.
