What’s the best way to stand out to customers? With such a cluttered digital world, full of media and information in every corner, it can be hard to stand out. Here are ways to reach customers that can help give you an edge and make sure you stand out. 

Focus on Building Relationships Through Your Brand

When you’re looking to make sales, it can be easy to focus on the product or the sale, rather than the relationship you’re building with the customer. It’s important to think of the sales business as a relationship business because sales is about people and relationships. Making a sale and retaining customer loyalty is so much more than simply strategically advertising your product in the marketplace. It’s about relating to your customer and understanding where they are in life and in the purchase cycle. 

When you have a better understanding of your customers, it’s easier to relate to them. Take the time to get to know your customers and make sure your individual communication with them is genuine. If a customer asks you a question, respond quickly and be transparent. Make sure your contact information is accessible and meaningful. Help your customers feel like they are making a genuine connection rather than making them feel like they are a part of a transaction. 

Follow Up with Customers

This goes hand in hand with following up with customers after a purchase. If you made a sale, make sure you take the time to thank customers. Then, add the customers to your sales email list so that you can continue to reach out to customers and turn them into regulars. If adding customers to an email list, make sure that you are sending quality information and that it’s personalized, if possible. 

No, maybe you can’t send individualized emails to each customer, but you can send more targeted emails based on what your customers bought or the demographic information available. This will help keep customers interested and keep them from clicking unsubscribe.

Give Customers Quality Information

It’s also important to make sure any interaction you have with customers provides them with quality information that they will find useful. Take the email example. If you’re sending your customers emails, make sure the email is written in an engaging and clutterless way. Make sure the content is approachable and useful, otherwise the customer won’t see the value in receiving the email and will unsubscribe from the list.

The same holds true for other marketing as well. Are you thinking about putting your business on a billboard? What information will be noticed by customers driving at a high speed down a highway? More important than being noticed, what information will be remembered? 

Focus on Market Segmentation

Something that’s much easier to do digitally than with a billboard is to look into segmenting your market. Look at who is using your product and what else they do online, and you can reach them there. In today’s media-driven world, there are so many ways to find a very small market segment to reach, get yourself noticed and better spend your marketing budget.

 Maybe your product users are the same group that love true crime podcasts. You can reach these podcast users by advertising on the podcast. You don’t even have to do this on a nationwide level. You can advertise to a local area as well as a nationwide area. 

How to Effectively Use Social Media

The same is true with social media marketing. Hiring an influencer in a local area can help get your product on the feeds of those who may not see it otherwise. Influencer marketing has huge benefits that can have higher returns than traditional social media marketing. If your target market is likely to interact with the influencer, your potential customers are more likely to see your well-placed product, rather than with a paid ad. Your customers are more likely to have positive connotations with the product as well, since they like and value the influencer. 

With so much media out there, it can be hard to break through the clutter and reach your customers. From influencer marketing to targeted emails, there are unique ways that you can reach your customers.
