Tips for a Great Art Session

Making art is exciting and rewarding. Watching an idea that you have taken shape through your efforts and talent is an experience unlike any other. It can even be a wonderfully therapeutic experience that helps you let out your emotions. Art is very expressive and may bring to the surface any repressed feelings or stress that you have been avoiding. The best thing about art is that there is no wrong way to do things. Focus on what you are passionate about and let the creativity flow. If you find that you are having a little trouble getting going some days, then try out a few of these ideas for how to jump start a great artistic session.

Be Well Rested

Trying to be creative and come up with mind blowing ideas, or executing the fine details of a work of art, when you are exhausted is not the best idea. A sluggish brain won't be the greatest source of light bulb moments to spark those projects. And a tired body and mind will make your hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills a bit shaky. For the highest quality work, you want to be rested and alert.

Sleep is obviously a big part of being wide awake and ready to work, but nutrition is important as well. If you aren't feeding your body correctly, you will likely be low on energy. Eat well and stay away from heavy, processed, or carb-laden meals while you are working, as these can deplete you and make you feel more ready for a nap then a creative breakthrough. If you want to give your body and nutrition a boost, think about adding one of the Thrive systems of products to your routine. They contain healthy ingredients to support total body health and increase energy and stamina. They are safe to use and the Thrive side effects are minimal to nonexistent for most users.

Prepare Your Materials

An excellent art session is one where your creativity is allowed to flow freely. Set yourself up for success in this area by preparing your workspace in advance so you don't have to devote time and attention to the mundane details. Gather all of the usual equipment you may need. Make sure everything has been cleaned and is ready for use. Give yourself plenty of space to work. It's a good idea to have a selection of mediums available to suit whatever mood may strike you.

Choose a Creative Atmosphere

The space you choose to do your work should inspire you. A drab, lifeless, poorly lit room will just depress you. Put a little thought into where you are going to work. If you choose an indoor space, make sure you have plenty of good lighting, preferably natural light if at all possible. Have some interesting and imaginative decorations scattered around. Also, some windows to observe what's happening outside is a good idea too. The coming and going of people passing by, or the trees and flowers basking in the sunlight can lead to a brainwave for a new project.

Buddy Up

Art is a great solo activity to help you express yourself, but can also benefit from a community effort. Sometimes, you need to work with some friends to get some feedback, share input, and discuss ideas. A friend or colleague can offer you a completely unique perspective and may be key to unlocking an area you are stuck in, or help you see how to take your project in a whole new direction. One of the joys of art is that there are so many possibilities and directions you can go in. If you find yourself feeling a little stale and out of ideas, just change it up a little. A fresh perspective or new tools could be just the inspiration you need to spark a great idea and get you started on your masterpiece.
