New Must-Try Spa Trends and Innovations

Nothing beats spending a day at the spa. Whatever type of treatment you choose, you know one thing — after it, you're sure to feel rejuvenated, relaxed and radiant. Besides, it's fun to discover and try new trends, especially when you find an exciting new treatment while you're on vacation. Look for the following more recent spa trends and innovations before your next venture to the spa.

Halotherapy

For centuries, people have used halotherapy (aka salt therapy) to cure respiratory problems. It's become increasingly popular over the past few years in spas, with the addition of salt rooms, salt beds and salt lamps. You can also enjoy a salt manicure, pedicure, or a salt stone massage (which replaces the more common basalt stones). Salt has many health advantages. Its negative ions can be particularly helpful for people with respiratory conditions, making it easier for them to breathe. Pure mineral salts have moisturizing properties, which can help give skin a nice, healthy glow. Salt has a detoxifying and calming effect, which helps to improve mood. If you can't spend a lot of time at the seaside, finding a salt room can have the same positive impact. In fact, a salt room has such a high salt concentration that spending 45 minutes in one is equivalent to spending three days by the ocean. Add some relaxing aromas to this environment, such as those of Young Living Essential Oils, and you'll emerge feeling better than ever.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy has been used for years by athletes for recovery. It's recently started making its way into spas. You might wonder if subjecting your body to temperatures of 150-300 below zero is even healthy; it's fine in short spans. Cryotherapy can decrease pain, rejuvenate cells, remove toxins and reduce fat and cellulite. You can get a cryofacial or do a full-body treatment in a cryotherapy chamber (generally lasting around one to three minutes). People are beginning to opt for cryofacials over more invasive treatments such as Botox. One treatment can speed up collagen production, soothe inflammation, improve skin texture and tone and restore radiance.

Virtual Reality

A spa visit is supposed to be about unplugging for a while. Still, technology is finding a spot in several areas of treatment. Many spas are adding virtual reality, which has only proved to enhance their other services. Natura Bissé, a well-known skincare company, created a VR treatment enhancement called Mindful Touch. This add-on begins with VR relaxing nature imagery to help the client achieve deeper relaxation, which means more benefit from the treatment itself. The therapy combines mindfulness with audio that allows the client to relax and focus on their breathing. The therapist synchronizes the massage with the audio narration.

Cannabidiol

Increasingly, CBD is becoming infused into different aspects of life as a safe and natural treatment for many issues. Originating from a non-hallucinogenic part of the cannabis plant, CBD won't give you a high. Still, it can help ease anxiety, reduce chronic pain, insomnia and help with some skin problems. In addition to CBD massages, many spas have started incorporating it into body treatments and facials.

Spas at Airports

Everyone knows that if you're ever likely to get stressed, it's at the airport. Airports and airlines have been experimenting with the spa and wellness trend recently. More branded spas are offering their services in various airports. Some airlines even provide these services in-flight, such as massages, meditation and healthy food.

Since some of these treatments are relatively new, you may not be able to find them at your local spas. Research a spa treatment that you'd like to try. Then, you may want to plan a vacation around a spa that offers it.
