6 Activities for a Family Night at Home

Everyone loves a family night in! It's a great way to bond as a group and make certain evenings special. The first thing you need to decide on is what sort of night you'll have. Will it be relaxing or full of physical activity? After scoping out the opinions of your family members, you can start making a decision. If you're unsure of what to do, here are six activities for a family night at home.

Movie Marathon

Having a movie marathon is a perfect pick for a family night, mainly because it works for nearly every occasion. If your family is too tired to be active, put on a movie. If you don't want to spend time arguing over an activity, put on a movie. Having a movie marathon in particular is a step up that makes the night even more special. In order to lessen the chance of experiencing technical difficulties, you may want to get protections like a VPN for Netflix. Once the films are set up, you can make a plethora of snacks and snuggle up for hours of entertainment!

Board Games

Playing board games is an old tradition that never seems to go out of style. These games are often creative and intriguing, allowing the players to exercise skills that might be underutilized. For instance, Clue lets players become real life detectives, which most probably aren't. When choosing a game, be sure to keep your family's personalities in mind. Don't pick something too competitive if your loved ones are sore losers.

Backyard Sleepover

If you want to make a family night special without leaving your home, why not at least leave the house? Camping in the backyard is a great way to have fun without putting up too much effort. If you're able to, you can even have a fire and roast marshmallows. Just make sure that you have the proper supplies beforehand. You may not be camping for real, but you still need protection when sleeping outside.

Family Meal

You can make a regular dinner special by having the whole family cook it! This activity might get a little messy, but it's well worth the cleanup process. Basically, you'll need to give each member of the family a task to complete. If you have younger kids, make that task simple and low-risk. Older kids, if proven responsible, may be able to make an entire dish. Children are interested in completing jobs that adults find mundane, mainly because it makes the child feel older. By offering the chance to do so, you can instill a sense of pride in the kid while doing less work yourself!

Blanket Fort

Who doesn't love a blanket fort? Even adults dabble now and then. Creating a blanket or pillow fort may mess up your living room, but it's a great change of pace for family night. Making a fort also inspires creativity and innovation in kids. The best part is that you can use your creation all night! If possible, consider setting up some fun moving lights or music in the fort. This can make the atmosphere even more exciting.

Inside Soccer

If your kids are antsy, playing inside soccer may be the activity to do. Sports are usually fun for kids, but most are extremely dangerous to do inside. Luckily, soccer with a soft ball can be played with minimal risk. Nothing is being thrown and the ball is too soft to hurt anything. This game is best played in a hallway between two people. If you want to bring arts and crafts into the equation, encourage the participants to make trophies for everyone afterwards.

Decisions can be hard, but at least this one ends in an enjoyable activity. As long as everyone agrees and seems excited, you're almost sure to have a fun night. Enjoy spending a night surrounded by the people you love!
