Try to behave in a manner that meets your values and beliefs. This will provide you with more energy every day and provide your employees with a valuable lesson – you should be yourself.

Encourage Transparency and Feedback

Even though some managers are worried about doing that, admitting situations when you are wrong is essential to build a transparent and honest culture where every person will feel like they have the freedom to be their very best while on the job. This is something that should start at the highest level of the company. Even the CEO should be able to admit when they are wrong.

In some cases, when someone is in a leadership role, they believe they must show control and always be right. However, it shows much more courage for you to admit if you do not know the answer to something or that you have made a mistake. When you do this, it will help create a sense of transparency with workers and encourage a learning culture. In the long-term, this will let you change your tendencies and ideas without having to worry about maintaining your ego.

While it can be hard to remember every little thing, remembering important things that your employees tell you is invaluable. Following up on these things will help show your employees that you care about them.

When you take time to ask about something going on in someone’s life or checking on a team member when they seem down, it will build a much stronger connection and help your employees feel valued. Along with this connection, you can begin to learn what motivates your team members. When an employee feels valued, they will be more productive, which is going to help from the bottom up.
