Decorating A Sports Themed Bedroom

Decorating kid’s rooms can be a fun, yet challenging task for most families. There are too many options for one to choose from, yet most children love to have their own personalized theme in their bedroom. While young girls may like fairy tales, boys may want something like superheroes or a bit more manly. When it comes to your sports-loving son though, you may soon discover that it is an overwhelming task to deck his room out. There are several different ways, styles, and options you can choose to do. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Theme

While you know the room is going to be sports-themed, you’ll need to decide if it’s going to be based on a specific sport or sport’s team. You could also do a mix of both though too. You could do team colors and logos mixed with specific sporting accessories or rules. Having an idea of which type of style your son wants will help you decide on how to outfit the rest of the room.

Memorabilia

One of the best things to make a room unique is by using various sports memorabilia as decorations. Various pieces and items can be unique and offer plenty of stories. Objects with autographs and authenticity, as well as legitimate, used gear, makes them valuable and priceless to own. Jerseys are one of the most popular sport’s things to collect, and if it’s player-specific, it’s even better. Some people like to wear them out, while others enjoy collecting the various designs that come out throughout the year. Collecting game pieces is another great thing to add to the room’s collections wall.

Achievements

Depending on the age of your child, they may have played in several of their own sporting leagues. It’s a great idea to be able to show off their accomplishments, along with their favorite team’s ones. Having a shelf or case of specific moments in their playing time is a great way to display their accomplishments. This could be in the form of trophies, plaques, or even game balls.

Equipment

Having equipment of the sport your son loves is cool to have placed throughout the room. Sometimes having shelving units with his favorite ball, baseball gloves, or bat can bring a room together. This is a two for one deal as well. You create a place to store his equipment, all why making it a focal point in the bedroom. This way you save on space in other areas and eliminate the chances of large messes.

Bedding

Another great way to decorate is to have matching bedding. You can find something in the sport of their liking, but they make comforter sets that display your son’s favorite team as well. You could also look for a throw pillow or blanket to put on top if you’re just looking for one little pop of décor. There are several different options for how to go about decorating the bed.

Colors

The colors in the room are important for bringing everything together. You want the paint on the walls to match the carpet, yet you still want it to be cool and fun. They make wallpaper and borders that can be easily installed on the walls to give it that perfect sport’s accent. They have also started making vinyl stickers of players and logos that are great additions to filling up wall space. Some companies make them removable, so they don’t have to be in the same place forever.

Pictures

Pictures of favorite players and teams are a great addition to a sport’s room. They make team photos and licensed pictures that encompass all sorts of team highlights. You can find your boy’s favorite player or team moment in time. Many children look at their favorite athletes as heroes and idols. Putting a picture of them up is a great way for them to show their love for them.

One of the coolest things for a boy to have is his own sport’s centered room. These are just a few of the endless ideas you could do for creating the best sport’s bedroom out there.
