5 Tips to Plan Your Dream Wedding

Every girl grows up dreaming of their wedding day. However, when it comes time to actually start planning, it can be a bit daunting. If you are starting to plan your wedding, you may be wondering where to begin. Here are five tips to help you stay on task, organized, and prepared for your big day.

Pick a Theme

The first thing you and your partner should do is pick a theme. This should include a color scheme, food options, and music genre. This is something both of you should agree on and is what the whole day will be based around. Many people opt for just a color scheme and then plan around that, but if you are looking for a more unique wedding day, you should consider picking a theme. It could be based around your engagement rings, a favorite show or movie, or even a favorite decade, but it should be something both you and your partner enjoy. By picking a theme, you can have unique food, games, and music. For example, if you chose to do a 70s theme, you could have 70s music, have a tie dye station, or even have a tie dyed cake. When it comes to picking a theme, the options are endless.

Write Ideas Down

In order to keep all of your ideas and thoughts organized, you should create an organized binder full of information. You can have a tab for wedding dresses, a tab for wedding cakes, a tab for potential venues; whatever you need for your wedding, you can easily keep in your binder. This will also make it easy to maintain on your theme. Stepping away from the initial theme you chose can create a spiral effect and ruin even the greatest celeration. Having pictures of everything and writing down as much as you can will keep you from going too far from that original idea.

Reserve Things Early

A common mistake people make is waiting until the last minute to do things. A wedding cannot be planned like that. Once you have decided on something, you must go right away and reserve it. Thousands of people are married every week and they are all vying for the same things you are. You have to take the initiative and get it done quickly and accurately. Trying on and picking out a dress is also something that should not wait until the last minute. To ensure your dress fits properly, it must be altered and that can take months. Cakes and flowers also need time to be prepared and arranged, so you must be diligent in choosing your options.

Talk to Your Partner

With everything going on, it can be difficult to sit down and relax without thinking about the upcoming event. However, it is important to sit and talk to your partner. Whether you talk through wedding details or just have a simple conversation, you have to make sure to check in. Sometimes, you can get so carried away with planning a wedding that you forget to take a step back and remember why you are marrying your partner. This is also a good time to talk and ensure you are both happy with how the wedding planning is going and clear the air if there are any problems.

Stick to Your Decisions

Once you have made a decision, stick to it. All of the brainstorming and writing things down was preparing you to make the right decision, so once you've decided on something, let it go. There are plenty of things to stress about during a wedding and it is important to know when to take a break. Take some relaxing breaths or meditate for a minute to calm down and just trust in yourself.

A wedding is a cause for celebration, so make sure you keep that in mind as you plan your big day. The real secret to creating your dream wedding is communication, dedication, and fun.
