How to Prepare Yourself For Your Engagement Photoshoot

As you get ready for your big day, many couples opt for engagement photos. Having your photo taken can feel like an easy task, but there is a lot of pressure to get a picture-perfect look when you are getting married. If you have never been in a photoshoot before, this can feel stressful and overwhelming. Don’t let yourself stress about your look and prepare properly with these tips.

Eat a Well-Balanced, Nutrient-Rich Diet

If you are worried about looking your best, turn your attention to your diet. The foods that you eat can affect your complexion, weight and overall look. While many brides find themselves tempted to crash diet, this can have the opposite effect and leave you looking sickly. Instead of sending yourself into a tailspin, eating healthily can be the solution you are looking for. You can avoid weight gain, breakouts and bloating. To ensure that you have the energy and nutrients that you need, you can always add in a supplement of greens powder to help you achieve the balance you need to look your best.

Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol

While engagements are certainly a moment to celebrate, make sure that you avoid anything that will make you bloat a few days prior to your photoshoot. Alcohol and caffeine are often delicious parts of our routine; however, if you want to look photo-ready, make sure that you avoid these a few days before your big day. The one exception to this is a caffeine-infused facial cream, as this can actually give you a perky and less bloated appearance.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

If you want to come away with jaw-dropping photos, you need to make sure that you get a good night’s sleep. Insufficient slumbers can lead to bloating and bags under your eyes. If you want to avoid this and avoid having to consume coffee to be awake, make sure that you plan for your night’s rest and how you can get the sleep you need.

Apply a Hair Mask

If you want your hair to look amazing, consider applying a hair mask that can give you the enrichment for your mane and luscious locks that you are looking for. You can purchase a mask or create an at-home concoction, to soothe your hair and bring out a natural shine that will look amazing in photographs. Be careful not to apply this a couple of days in advance, as this can sometimes add extra weight to your hair that can reduce its bounce and volume.

Get Your Ring Cleaned

While many people remember to get their nails done, you also need to think about your ring. If you want to show off your bling, make sure that you have your ring cleaned professionally. If you don’t have the time to get it cleaned by the pros, consider getting a toothbrush for cleaning and using mild dish soap to help wash away any grime or dirt. This will make sure that it sparkles perfectly the day of.

Try Out Poses

Achieving that picture-perfect look means that you need to feel comfortable; however, posing for photos can feel awkward and unnatural. If you want to be relaxed during your upcoming photoshoot, think about the looks that you hope to capture and try out poses. With some practice, you can know what you are trying to achieve and feel better going into the session.

Determine Your Look

Developing a plan for your engagement photos needs to include determining your look, everything from makeup to hair to ensemble needs to be planned. Not everything shows up the same on camera as it does in real life and this is particularly true for makeup. Makeup in photographs needs to be slightly exaggerated for it to show up on camera, so working with a professional makeup artist can help you achieve the look that you are dreaming of.

While engagement shoots can leave you with beautiful photographs, they can also be intimidating. While this plan is key to getting you ready, make sure that you have fun and enjoy this time with your significant other. Don’t let the stress get to you and instead, spend time documenting this sublime moment.
