5 Creative Ways To Show Your Spouse You Care

Showing how much you appreciate your spouse is an important part of any relationship. Whether you want to thank them for something specific like taking care of you last week when you were sick or you just want to remind them how special they are to you, signs of appreciation can go a long way in keeping a relationship healthy and happy. However, bringing home flowers for the umpteenth time or going out for dinner at the same place you went last time might not bring the vibe you’re looking for. If you’re to mix it up with your acts of appreciation check out these 5 creative ways to show your spouse how much you care:

1. Get Them a Gift…With a Twist

Everyone loves gifts, but they tend to feel a little less meaningful when they don’t feel personalized. Especially when picking something out for your partner, you want it to feel special and thought out. If you noticed your husband browsing through men’s wallets recently, you might buy him something you know he’ll love. But don’t stop there. Before wrapping the gift, put a pair of tickets to a hockey game or a concert you’ve been wanting to see together inside. When he opens the gift he’ll be able to see that you’ve been paying attention to his needs, but also that you want to spend time with him doing something you both love.

2. Leave Them Love Notes

Nothing takes the stress off of the day like finding a warm reminder that you are loved when you least expect it. If your wife is taking on a hard new case at work, you might slip a note telling her how much you love her into her briefcase before she leaves for work in the morning. Other great hiding places include books your partner is currently reading, lunch boxes, wallets and sock drawers. You might also drop some hints about where your declarations of love are hiding so that they know the scavenger hunt is on. Don’t forget to tell them why you love them, you want the notes to be specific and personalized.

3. Do Their Chores

You know how your spouse is always hinting that you don’t do enough around the house? Or they just start doing the things they asked you to do knowing that if they don’t they will just never get done? Everyone has days where they don’t get through all of their chores, but a great way to remind your spouse how much you appreciate them is by completing all of your own duties as well as theirs without being asked. This is a great way to show you care and to make sure your partner isn’t feeling taken for granted.

4. Plan a Romantic Getaway

It can be hard to find time for romance during the day-to-day grind. If you need time to express your emotions away from all the hustle, sit down and ask your partner where they’ve always wanted to go. Together you can plan your dream vacation so the two of you can remind each other of all the reasons you care. Maybe the tickets you put in your husband's wallet were to a soccer game in France

5. Make a Collage

In the days of digitization, it’s much less common to have physical photographs but you probably have a plethora of photos of you and your partner having fun together. A great way to remind your lover of all the great times you have together is by making a photo collage that you can hang in the house. You might use an online program to match everything together, or you can make a physical one at home. If you want to go a step further, you can add photos to items such as t-shirts and mugs so your partner can have a reminder of your appreciation every time they use that item.
