Fancy Feet for Your Life

Choosing Footwear That Flatters Any Style

You are what you wear - or, at least, what you wear can be a visual statement of your personality. Some people tend to dress the way they feel, or the way that they wish to feel. Choosing an ensemble for the day can even set the tone for your confidence, and then your attitude as a result. When your outfit is well put together and complete, it seems that the world is your oyster. So it is important to consider as many details as possible, including footwear. Just as jewelry can make or break an outfit, shoes can also complement or detract from everything else. Consider, then, the following suggestions for choosing the best shoes for your personal style.

Fashion or Function

As cute as the three inch heels might be, they will probably not get you through a day of cashier duties without painful consequences. Realistically, hobbling around and needing bandages just is not attractive. Unless you spend most of your day seated - and even then, no one else will see your feet! - this is not an appropriate occasion for lethal stilettos. But there are many sensible options for workwear that are also pleasing to the eye. From kitten heels to open-toe flats in every color and pattern imaginable, you will no doubt be able to find the perfect finishing touch. All while staying comfortable, mobile and bandage free!

Seasonal Smartness

Knee-high boots are flattering and versatile, but they will also feel like ovens on your feet in warmer months. If you are planning to go on a casual outing but want to look your best, white leather shoes can be a great choice for both spring and summer. The pros for wearing white shoes are numerous, not the least of which is the fact that white can go well with nearly any other color or print, and will look snappily crispy and clean. Wear them to brunch with a sundress of any length, pair them with denim shorts to toss the frisbee in the park or accessorize a short floral skirt for your standing Friday night date with your significant other. Whether you want trendy or sporty, you will look your best and feel great wearing them.

Frivolity or Frugality

There are many women who consider the contents of their shoe closet to be an investment. For some, perusing the boutique shops feels akin to browsing available stocks on Wall Street. Like a strand of authentic pearls lept in the family, some shoe designers create truly classic and high quality pieces that you can depend on for years. Of course, these options also come with a steeper price tag than what you would find in a run-of-the-mill department store. Even though many people scoff at the thought of spending good money on something that just goes on your feet, the philosophy is similar to that of purchasing a car. Cheaper might be easier on your checkbook, but what will it do for your physical well-being? Dropping potentially hundreds of dollars on your footwear wardrobe is a smart move for both your mental outlook and the health of your feet. Furthermore, you may even save money in the long run because you will possess long-lasting products that will not require frequent replacement. That is, of course, unless you want to replace them often - shoe shopping is a sport in some circles!

Regardless of your general approach to clothing and outlook on fashion, everyone needs shoes. Most people would agree that finding the most appropriate option is better than suffering through any amount of time being shod in ill-fitting, torturous footgear. Why not enjoy the process, experiment with different types and maybe even find something that you didn’t know you needed. You can’t go barefoot to your office job, so make the best of it and get yourself the best that you can afford. Put your best foot forward!
