More Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Information Released

By Daniel Kahn

Comic book movie fans were treated to two new previews of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Wednesday morning, as Marvel Studios unveiled a new teaser poster for the film. The black and white poster looks more like an album cover, fitting the sequel’s title, Vol. 2. The film’s tagline is, “Obviously,” in line with the original film’s humor and tagline, “You’re Welcome.”

The original Guardians of the Galaxy was a surprise hit, featuring almost no popular Marvel characters, and keeping them very separate from the rest of Marvel’s movie universe. The film’s humor and heart kept audiences entranced and it was one of the most critically and commercially successful films of 2014. The film will also be the first Marvel property to become a ride at either of the American Disney theme parks, replacing The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, at Disneyland, becoming Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout, which will open in conjunction with the film next year.

Director James Gunn, who co-wrote and directed the original, also took to Facebook to post a teaser trailer, promising more footage soon. The trailer reuses Blue Suede’s Hooked on a Feeling, which was used n the original film and it’s trailers. The trailer features clips of all the returning main characters, and a very awkward hug between Star Lord and Drax. The trailer was soon posted to Marvel’s official channels.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 is slated to be released stateside May 5th of next year.
