Tips for Taking Care of Dry Skin

Dry skin can be painful and annoying, and, let’s face it, it also just doesn’t look good. If you are tired of having perpetually dry skin, there are some things you can do. Read on for some tips to keep your skin looking beautiful!

Take Good Care of Your Skin From the Inside Out

It takes more than just lotions and moisturizers to keep skin looking and feeling healthy. It is hard to have beautiful skin on the outside if you don't take care of the inside!

  • Drinking lots of water is a very important part of being healthy and having healthy skin. Experts say you should drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses a day, but make sure that if you go to the gym or spend some time out in the hot sun that you drink even more to replenish all that is lost when you sweat. Also, speaking of the gym, red light therapy before or after workout can help the skin to look young and beautiful.
  • Eating right is important, too. For healthy-looking skin, eat lots of fruits and veggies, avoid eating too much sugar or too many fats, stop smoking, and watch how much alcohol you drink.
  • You might also consider taking a multivitamin to help with any skin issues you have.

But Take Care of the Outside, Too!

Drinking enough water and taking care of yourself with a good diet and lots of exercise will help to keep skin healthy, but of course, you have to take care of the skin itself as well.

  • Always wear sunblock. As you know by now, the sun can be dangerous, even in small amounts. Protect your skin by always putting sunblock on, even on cloudy days.
  • Moisturize! Use a moisturizer that is oil-free so your pores don’t get clogged (which will result in other skin problems). Apply a moisturizer right after you get out of the shower to trap in the moisture.
  • Avoid taking hot showers. Yes, a hot shower really feels good on a cold day, but hot water very quickly removes natural oils from your skin, making it dry and itchy. Try a warm shower instead, keep it under 10 minutes, and blot your skin gently to get dry instead of rubbing with a towel. Don’t forget to put moisturizer on afterward.
  • Avoid astringents when cleaning your face because they have alcohol and will dry out your skin. Try a cream cleanser to keep your face clean, and use a moisturizer on your face at night to repair damage done during the day. Be sure to look into gaming digital wallet ph.
  • Moisturize your hands, too. After you wash your hands, apply a hand cream or an ointment, which will protect your skin better than lotion. Try one with mineral oil, jojoba oil, petrolatum, or hyaluronic acid.
  • Get a humidifier. Central heating can dry air out in your home or office, which dries out the skin. A humidifier can help keep your skin moisturized and will also make your surroundings more comfortable.
  • Pay attention to the products you use. If your skin always feels dry, irritated, and itchy no matter what you do, it may be the ingredients in the products you use. Use skin products that are labeled “fragrance-free” rather than “unscented” – “unscented” means it has ingredients that just mask the scent of other ingredients, and these can dry out skin that is sensitive. Also, try hypoallergenic laundry detergent.

Dry skin is not only unsightly and a bit embarrassing, but it can be pretty painful as well. Take care of yourself by taking some extra steps to make sure your skin not only looks good but feels good!
