Things to Do In Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Florida. While it may not have the lavish Disney parks of Orlando or the history of St. Augustine, Fort Lauderdale is a stunning city with a lot to offer. If you're planning a vacation to Fort Lauderdale this year, here are some attractions to check out!

Bonnet House Museum and Gardens

The Bonnet House was built in the 1920s by artist Frederic Clay Bartlett. He lived there with his wife Helen Louise Birch until she died in 1925, before marrying again. Throughout the home's history, it was used as an escape into the beautiful Florida landscape. Now the grounds are preserved as a piece of early 1900s history, both in architecture and in nature. If you want to get a glimpse of what life was like in the Roaring 20s, the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens is the perfect destination for you.

In addition to being a historically preserved site, the Bonnet House also features many beautiful artworks. The initial builder of the home was an artist himself, so in the interest of preserving his history, the conservation effort has included many paintings and sculptures on the grounds. On the Bonnet House grounds, guests are welcome to explore the included trails and even bring picnic lunches, so feel free to bring the whole family. This beautiful museum is located close to top hotels such as Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale, making it a must-see stop on your trip to Florida.

Fort Lauderdale Beach Park

If you're going on vacation to Florida, you have to go to the beach. Fort Lauderdale Beach Park is one of the most scenic in the area and has all the amenities you could need for your beach trip. This gorgeous white-sand beach has outdoor showers, volleyball courts, and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the warm sunshine. Because it's such a popular beachfront, there are daily alerts on the Beach Park website about the conditions, so you have an inside scoop on the weather and water temperature.

Once you've had your fill of swimming, a short walk will bring you to a lovely seaside boardwalk. The nearby promenade has a variety of shops and restaurants for you to peruse, ranging from boutiques to locally-caught seafood. As the sun goes down, head to any one of the bars for some cocktails and entertainment to wrap up your night. No matter what you enjoy doing, Fort Lauderdale Beach Park has something to suit your tastes.

Everglades Boat Tour

Another popular Florida attraction is an Everglades Boat Tour. The Everglades is a vast wetland in the southern tip of Florida, housing countless species of animals and plants. To understand more about humanity's effect on this ecosystem, many companies have begun to offer tours of the landscape inside boats. On one of these tours, you could see alligators, dozens of species of birds, and even potentially see the elusive Florida Panther. The purpose of these boat tours isn't simply sightseeing, but also conservation. As pollution causes sea levels to rise, this fragile ecosystem is in danger. By bringing awareness to the flourishing life in this area, Florida residents hope to bring more attention to preservation efforts.

Everglades tours are around 30 to 45 minutes away from downtown Fort Lauderdale but are a must-see for your next Florida vacation. Tour companies such as Sawgrass Recreation Park not only offer boat tours but also have attractions such as gem mining and reptile exhibits for you to enjoy. If you're in Fort Lauderdale, head to the Everglades for a fun and educational tour of the wetlands.

In conclusion, the Fort Lauderdale area is a wonderful vacation area full of things to do for you and your family. Without a doubt, this could be your best vacation yet!
