Fun Ski Resort Amenities You'd Never Think to Look For

A ski vacation is a family favorite across the globe, anywhere there's snow and mountains for it to cover. Every resort is different, but most people anticipate a relatively similar experience no matter where they go. A nice room with a view, powdery slopes, a warm lodge and maybe even a spa if you're lucky. A few ski resorts, however, have gone above and beyond to offer unique amenities that can really make a difference for visitors. Let's check out some interesting services from ski resorts around the world.

Taco Beast

If you're shredding the slopes in Steamboat, Colorado, and it reaches high noon, you won't have to go clambering to the pantry doors of your hotel room. This ski resort has solved your lunchtime problem with the Taco Beast: a snowmobile that delivers tacos to skiers.

The vehicle rides the slopes between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. delivering lunch and a salsa bar to all of the resort residents. It's a quick fix to your noontime hunger and keeps you out in the snow where you want to be. So next time you ski in Steamboat Springs, keep an eye out for the taco mobile at lunchtime!

Bathroom Slide

A common woe of ski enthusiasts is all the stairs in their resort or lodge, particularly ones leading to the bathroom. It seems every resort is designed with a downstairs bathroom but no good way to access it without completely disrobing your ski gear. A resort in Meribel, France, has fixed this problem.

The Rond Point Meribel ski resort has replaced the stairs leading to its bathrooms with slides. That's right, you can sit down and slide to the restrooms without having to haul gear downstairs or clunk your way to the toilet. It's a fun and unique addition to the design of their resort—or at the very least a great story to tell your friends!

Ski-up Distillery

Spending a day in the snow can get a bit chilly, but not everyone wants to shed their gear and end their day just to warm up for a while. Park City Mountain, Utah, has devised its own solution in the form of the High West Distillery.

The distillery is a gastropub settled on the ski routes so people can stop in to grab a warming cup of whiskey and a snack, then go back to the slopes when they're ready to keep going. It's an easy way to warm up and take a break without having to end your whole day.

Heli-Fondue

Fondue is a great, warming mountain treat that many skiers are familiar with. But in Panorama, Canada, the resort has taken this classic snack up a notch. Instead of enjoying fondue in the lodge with bits of bread or fruit, the resort brings people up to the top of the mountain after hours via helicopter.

This is a unique experience because people can enjoy fondue in the helicopter while viewing the snowy mountains from above. They can also spend some time on the ground in the silence of nature after all the other skiers have retired for the day. It offers a more intimate experience for those who enjoy spending time being still on the mountain.

Ice Bar

Crested Butte, Colorado, had a similar idea to the High West Distillery. Instead of requiring visitors to ditch their skis and wander inside for a meal or a drink at the end of the day, the resort includes Uley's Cabin Lunch and Outdoor Bar. It's at the bottom of a run and caters to skiers who are finishing up their day or just taking a break. They can ski right up to the location and pop inside for a meal or enjoy a warming drink outside in the snow.

A ski vacation is a great way to stay active on vacation and spend meaningful quality time with your family. Check out some of these cool resorts to experience once-in-a-lifetime amenities!
