4 Simple Ways to Transform Your Home

We spend a lot of time at home. Depending on preference, décor and preferred features will vary. One thing is sure. Individuals want to feel comfortable and pleased within their homes. Renovation is one way to turn your home into more of what you need or envision. However, this can be very pricy. There are minor changes you can start with that will make a huge difference. If you desire a home makeover but aren’t quite ready for the hefty costs associated with renovation, try these easy ways to transform your home.

1. Landscaping

The lawn and landscaping is the first thing seen when approaching any house. Improved curb appeal can work wonders for how you feel about your home, and it will catch everyone else’s eye, too! Spend some time planning what you would like to see as you turn into your driveway. Maybe the flower beds could use some love. Perhaps now is the time to remove the unsightly bush. Whatever it may be, chances are you can probably take care of it yourself, and you will feel a lot better once it is done.

The state of lawn care is influential, as well. A pristine lawn will draw envy. Thick, green grass that is well maintained can drastically change the curb appeal, especially if the yard was sparse or uncared for, aside from mowing, before your efforts. Transform your curb appeal by planting new plants or flowers, removing shrubs you do not care for, laying a fresh layer of mulch or leveling up on your lawn care.

2. Exterior

As the focus is on the outside of the house, shift gear to evaluate the exterior of your home. Could your siding use a good power washing? Does your fence need to be stained? If so, do these two tasks before planting new flowers or laying fresh mulch or pine straw. Replacing or repainting your shutters may also be an easy way to up the exterior’s appeal. Another easy fix is updating your street address numbers hanging on your home and mailbox. Worn-out stickers or metal numbers can be an eyesore. While you are at it if your mailbox has seen better days, what better time than now to replace it!

3. Change Fixtures and Hardware

Entering the home, door handles and light fixtures may gain attention. A new exterior light fixture could magically update the entranceway to your home. The same thing goes for the door handle, especially if most people enter your home through that door. All of the fixtures and hardware throughout your home can be updated for a quick and easy transformation. Look at your cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen first to see if there are any knobs and handles you would like to upgrade. Choose a finish that matches your lighting, appliances and décor, or go bold for a style that makes you happy.

Aside from handles, you can also upgrade lighting fixtures for a dramatic difference. You can change these often and easily, so do not be afraid to choose something that stands out or brings you joy! Door knobs, hinges and other hardware throughout the home can easily be changed out for a fresh look.

4. Fresh Paint

A fresh coat of paint throughout your home can also work wonders. If you aren’t looking to paint an entire room, you could opt for an accent wall. Removable wallpaper could be a fantastic way to brighten a room without committing to painting. Another great option is to repaint or refinish the cabinets in your home.

Your home should be a place you love to spend your time. While you may dream of a renovation, there are other efforts to try first that can have a dramatic impact. Focus areas include the lawn and landscaping, exterior of the home, fixtures, hardware and fresh paint. Making a few changes can alter the way you feel about your home, increasing the joy and pride you feel each time you enter.
