5 Ways To Elevate Your Mommy Blog

Do you have a mommy blog? Maybe you're noticing it taking off or perhaps it needs a little more work. No matter where you are on your blogging journey, there are a variety of ways you can evaluate your blog to encourage growth and development. This can keep your readers interested in what you're covering and help your development as a writer. Check out these suggestions that can be a driving force in helping your blog grow.

  1. Make Sure the Name Reflects Your Why

Look at your blog's current title and decide if it reflects what you are writing about. Does it reflect traits such as your personality, the topics you cover, or what type of age groups you are writing about (such as writing directed toward mothers who have infants)? If not, this might be a good time to revise your title or slightly change it up. A good title can make it easier for readers to find you if they are looking up certain subjects that coincide with your blog.

  1. Create an Editorial Calendar

An editorial calendar is a good idea no matter how big or small your blog is. Even if you are just starting out, having an editorial blog can allow you to create a backlog of blog posts and have something scheduled to go every day. That way when you get sick, busy, or life otherwise catches up, your blog isn't being left unattended. Make sure you have some guidelines for keeping your editorial calendar, such as giving yourself space and not trying to do too much too far out. Your calendar should be used as a guide, but it shouldn't overwhelm you.

  1. Have Guest Bloggers Take Part

Having guest bloggers can make a big difference in how well your blog goes over with your fanbase and how much it gets promoted. While people likely return to your blog to hear your thoughts and opinions, it can be nice to get the perspective of someone else. Reading a guest blog on a topic can be a real treat for regular readers and encourage them to come back regularly. Try reaching out to other bloggers who you think would fit in with your reader base. This can be a great way for you to promote one another, too.

  1. Work to Improve Your Writing and Photo Editing Skills

As a mommy blogger, your writing and editing skills will constantly grow and improve as time goes on. Of course, it's still worth the investment to improve upon your current skill set and see what you can do to make your material even better. Consider taking writing workshops to improve your current abilities. If you want to take better pictures, learn about the difference between a blue screen vs green screen. You might not notice a change overnight, but the more you train and invest in yourself, the more opportunities open for you to have sponsorships and other ways of getting paid.

  1. Niche Down and Have a Focus

You might have started your mommy blog as a sort of catchall in the beginning, but it's important to niche down and focus if you really want to grow your audience. If you cater to mothers who work, write about topics that are of interest to them, such as picking the right daycare, choosing to go with a nanny, and how to balance work and children. If your focus is mothers who stay at home, you could incorporate crafts, activities to do with children and other similar topics as a way to engage your readers.

No matter where you are with your mommy blog, there are so many things you can do to help it grow. Pick one or two items and see how you can focus on changing those. Then, take note of your readers and views. If you see an increase over time, you are on the right path!
