6 Tips To Feel More Rested

Do you have trouble getting a good night of sleep? You should learn a few tricks you can use to help feel more rested throughout the day.

1. Cut the Caffeine

Coffee, tea, and soda are all good and can provide a boost of energy. But they can make it harder for you to fall asleep at night. If possible, try to stop consuming caffeine around the middle of the day so that it doesn't impact you later on.

You can still drink a cup of coffee or tea to wake yourself up in the morning. However, you want to minimize your consumption of it after lunch. If you like the taste of coffee, soda, or tea, look for options without any caffeine so that you can drink them throughout the day.

2. Follow Your Body

While most people need to wake up at a specific time for work, consider if you have any flexibility. Maybe you decide to switch to working a job with a nighttime shift. Or you start to work for yourself so that you have complete control over your schedule.

Either way, try to figure out your circadian rhythm. A lot of people can work during the day, but some people can't. When those people are forced to conform to society's scheduling, they can struggle to get the rest they need to be productive. So give them more leeway and let them work earlier or later, based on what their body needs.

3. Take a Nap

If you have a night where you don't get enough sleep, consider taking a short nap. You can lie down for as little as 20 or 30 minutes to see benefits. When you wake up, you'll feel more refreshed, so you can take on the rest of your day with ease.

This is a great option for people who have to work during specific hours. As long as you can make your lunch break a little longer, you'll have plenty of time to take a nap and eat. Then, you can finish off your workday, and you can feel less tired on your drive home.

4. Get a New Mattress

Perhaps even a nap doesn't help you feel more rested. Or maybe you wake up in the morning in a lot of pain, or the pain wakes you up in the middle of the night. That could be a sign that it's time to look for a new mattress. That way, you can get something that will make you feel better.

An online mattress company allows you to search for the features you need from home. Then, you can order the mattress online, and you don't have to spend time shopping in a store. No matter your budget or needs, a good mattress brand will have something for you.

5. Make It Dark

When the evening arrives and you're ready to go to sleep, make your room as dark as possible. Too much light can trick your brain into thinking it's daytime, which can make it harder for you to fall asleep. If you can't make your room completely dark, you can use a sleep mask to block out remaining light.

You should also aim to make your room a bit cooler than it is during the day. If you get too hot, you can also keep from falling asleep and getting a good night of rest. So turn on a fan or turn up the air conditioning in your home to help you sleep comfortably.

6. Light It Up

In the morning, be sure to turn the lights on and open your curtains. That can help wake you up and get ready for the day. It will also help tell your brain that it's time to stop sleeping. Then, you may be more productive in the morning.

Feeling rested can seem impossible, but there are a few things you can do. Keep these things in mind next time you find yourself drifting off to sleep during a meeting.
