UPS Starts Hiring for Holidays on Anticipated Surge in Deliveries

UPS announced it's begun hiring for the 2014 holiday season and expects to add nearly double the workers it hired last year to support an expected surge in package deliveries beginning in October and ending in January 2015. UPS said it anticipates adding between 90,000 and 95,000 seasonal employees in positions like package sorters, loaders, delivery helpers and drivers. Many of those positions will be converted into full-time employees after the holidays. UPS also announced changes from the 2013 peak shipping season -- like added operating days and improved shipment tracking timing, in order to meet growing e-commerce, m-commerce and holiday shipping demands.
