Zeiss is known for gorgeous glass, and the new Loxia line of primes is no different. Designed with e-mounts for full-frame cameras like the Sony A7S?in mind, the first two lenses are a?the Loxia 50mm f/2.0 and the 35mm. And they look like they’re built like a tank.
Pairing an all-manual control-set with a digitally-optimized design, the?Zeiss Loxia Lens?is a normal prime lens for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless digital cameras.?Serving as a unique option for the contemporary image-maker, the Zeiss Loxia series of lenses are built for the imaging demands of modern full-frame digital cameras, yet are founded upon conventional manual controls.

Cost of the 35mm is $1299
A really cool feature of these lens is that users can optionally?de-click the manual aperture ring for silent operation during filmmaking. Based on the symmetrical Planar optical concept, the Zeiss Loxia line has been corrected for chromatic aberrations and distortion throughout the aperture range to keep the image consistently clear.
It has a long 180? focus throw, clearly engraved scale markings, and a robust, all-metal construction with weather-resistant lens mount gasket. Zeiss has provided an electronic interface in order to log all EXIF data to the camera, and ?although the lens is completely manual, users can?configure their Loxia for auto focus while in use.
Currently available for preorder through B&H, both lenses will be available by the end of the month.
