Interested in Blackmagic Design‘s 4K Production camera? From now until Sept. 5, 2014, there is a $500 instant rebate. This effectively drops the price from $2995 down to $2495. However, there is a caveat. Like the sale on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera over the summer, the rebate lasts until the rebate deadline, or while supplies of the camera last. The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K offers a Super 35mm effective-sensor size with an effective resolution of 3840 x 2160. The camera offers up to 12 stops of dynamic range, with EF and ZE mount compatible with electronic iris control. It shoots in 4K (3840 x 2160) and HD (1920 x 1080p). In 4K the frame-rates are 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30. While shooting in HD, you can shoot progressive or interlaced. Frame-rates in progressive are 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, and 30. In interlaced, you can shoot 50 or 59.94. The camera shoots RAW for 4K, and ProRes for HD. It uses 2.5″ SSDs for storage.
