Simple Ways to Stay in Shape When You Are a Busy Curator

As a busy curator, you don't have time for complicated exercise routines or activities that take hours out of your day. You need to be able to stay in shape in a way that fits your lifestyle and schedule. Here are some ideas to help you stay healthy and happy as you pursue your career.

Count Your Steps

Health experts agree that you should strive for 10,000 steps each day. This can seem intimidating, but there are easy ways to increase your step count. First, download a pedometer app to your phone. This will help you keep track of your steps. Be patient with yourself. You probably won't meet your step goal the very first day and that's okay. Make it a fun challenge to find unique ways to fit more steps into your schedule. This could mean walking in place at your desk, parking further away from the grocery store or taking the stairs at work instead of the elevator.

Reconfigure Your Workspace

There are some easy adjustments you can make to your workspace to ensure that you stay in shape while on the job. You probably currently spend a lot of time sitting, which can be detrimental to your health. Sitting for hours every day can contribute to conditions like diabetes and heart disease. If you work in an office, ask your employer to purchase a standing desk for you. If you are self-employed and money is tight, you can make your own standing desk by putting your laptop on top of boxes piled on a table. Another good option is using a stability ball instead of an office chair. This keeps your spine stretched and your core strong. If you do decide to go with this option, make sure you only use the ball for twenty to thirty minutes because a longer period of time can put extra stress on your lower spine

Find a Way to Enjoy Physical Activity

You are more likely to regularly exercise if you enjoy what you are doing. Fun physical activities paired with the Thrive Patch can help you lose weight and stay in shape. Think outside the box when it comes to exercise. This could mean dancing around your living room to your favorite music, trying martial arts or cleaning your house. You may also want to meet up with other people who like the same types of physical activities, such as a jogging club or hiking group. This can help you stay motivated and excited. Finally, consider finding a family member or friend who would be willing to work out with you. You'll be able to nurture your relationships and stay in shape at the same time!

Prioritize Sleep

You may not realize it, but sleep is crucial to staying healthy and in shape. Sleep not only gives you the energy that you need to stay active, but it also keeps your metabolism strong and helps repair your muscles. Health experts recommend that adults try to get 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Stick to the same bedtime routine each night and disconnect from your electronic devices before sleep. Stay away from caffeine and alcohol in the hours before bedtime.

Try Online Exercise Videos

If you can't get to the gym, try watching some online exercise videos to keep you motivated. There are online videos for every type of exercise, from dance and yoga to pilates and kickboxing. Try different options to keep yourself excited about working out. Save the videos you enjoy most and repeat these every day if you can. While there are many free videos available, there are also subscription services that allow you to view exercise videos for a monthly fee.

While curating is your passion, you should also devote time to staying in shape. This will keep you happier and more able to enjoy your life. Try just a few of these tips to increase your overall health and wellness.
