Possibly Back Together? My Chemical Romance Posts Mysterious Video

Mid-2000s pop-punk sensation My Chemical Romance has broken their post-breakup silence with a strange video posted upon their social media pages this morning. The video features a new logo as a flag, waving while their song “Welcome to the Black Parade” is gently played on piano, ending with the date 9/23/16.  No further information or context was given.

This could very well be a release date for an album, either new material or simply a “greatest hits” release. It could possibly be a start date for a reunion tour. No matter what, this is good news for fans of the band, which broke up in 2013. The social media channels have already gone into overdrive with speculation and reactions.

Theories of what the video means are already popping up. The video’s title is MCRX. The date 9/23/16 is exactly one month before the ten-year anniversary of the album “Welcome to the Black Parade,” which is their most successful album. Going even further, fans have noticed that their official twitter deleted the tweet announcing the band’s breakup.

Until September 23rd, we’ll have to just speculate on what everything means, but it’s probably a good idea to dust off those old fishnet gloves and bottles of eyeliner. Just in case.

Update - At 11:44 a.m. July 21: the band released the following statement on their Facebook page:

"We've been really touched and blown away by the response to the teaser trailer.  We are not touring and there is no reunion planned - only a release for the anniversary of The Black Parade.

Thanks so much for continuing to keep MCR in your minds and in your hearts."
